Prophet Sulaiman Scarf
2019
Digital printed silk, double sided, plain silk on the other side
A prayer scarf that rethinks how a prayer mat looks and feels. How does one portray a more serene view of a prayer met? What would make it unconventional to what is sold in the market nowadays? With this piece, Noura questions the visual messaging of prayer mats and references the story of Prophet Sulaiman and his journey. Through living in London, the question of having a movable prayer mat was essential but rather than it just having one function, it begins to incorporate the function of wearablility and functionality. Thus the prayer mat becomes one that encapsulates both, the movability and wearbility.
